Low-iron glass or AR glass: what changes?

ANMERTON Studio
Custom artificial-plant aquascape aquarium integrated into a refined interior

Low-iron glass reduces the green cast associated with standard float glass and is the practical high-clarity choice for many aquariums. Optical AR glass adds a reflection-reducing surface treatment that may improve viewing in controlled conditions, while introducing different cost, handling, cleaning, and fabrication requirements. Compare verified samples for the actual room and do not treat the two materials as interchangeable.

Decision criteria

  • Viewing environment and reflection control
  • Tank dimensions and fabrication feasibility
  • Cleaning method and budget

Risks to check

  • Treating low-iron and AR glass as the same material
  • Judging from promotional images without verified samples
